Selectmen's Minutes - October 22, 1991

Hearing held on request of Eastern Edison for one proposed location of underground conduit in Brook Street to an existing manhole location in State Street.  Abutters had been notified.  Paul O'Connor, N. E. Telephone in attendance.  Motion to allow by Andrews, 2nd Ellis,  Voted 5-0.

Motion by Andrews, 2nd Ellis to sign memorandum of agreement concerning reduction in officer position and/or benefits with Hanson Firefighters.  Voted 5-0 to sign.

On motion by Murdoch, 2nd Andrews, voted 5-0 to delay choosing of Police Chief Search Committee for two weeks (November 5).  Voted 5-0.  Noted there had been a good response to the request for citizens to serve on this committee.

On request by Eastern Edison for one joint pole location to be relocated on W. Washington Street at Washington West Meadows to clear the entrance.  Motion by Andrews, 2nd Ellis to approve.  Voted 5-0.


Board discussed their recommendations for the articles in the October Special Town Meeting and took votes on each.

Hanson Kiwanis Club requests Common Victualer License for November 2, 1991 at Camp Kiwanee.  Also have requested a one day liquor license for same.  Motion by Andrews, 2nd Crowley, voted 5-0.

Because of State Law, the Board on motion by Andrews, 2nd Ellis, voted to designate the Board of Selectmen as Special Employees of the Town of Hanson.  Mr. Ellis had previously been so voted singly.                                

Board by concensus agreed to accept the Camp Dresser McKee proposal for the Thomas Hall site.  Board had previously voted to hire the firm.

Discussed letter received from the Thomas Hall Study Committee.  Board voted permission to allow the Thomas Hall Study Committee use of Town Counsel with the following conditions on questions #2 and Question #3:  Town Counsel should review a written opinion from the Board of Water Commissioners rather than to obtain and review and Town Counsel should review a written opinion from the Board of Health rather than to obtain and review.  

Mr. Andrews moved, 2nd by Murdoch to adjourn.  Voted 5-0.
